Stay Healthy!

As everyone knows, this is a time where many colds, sicknesses, headaches, etc appear to affect people. I believe that you can prevent yourself from getting sick by taking care of your body's immune system. Who wants to be sick now?? Start making changes in your diet and daily activity and you will notice that you will always be the one who stayed healthy!
Some ways that strengthen your immune system also connect with ways to live a healthy life style in general. There are a few ways to prevent and protect yourself from getting sick: drink PLENTY of water! It is so important that you drink a lot of water everyday because it flushes your body of any infection or sickness that might be creeping up on you. Your body LOVES water. Don't deprive it of it! Next, eat plenty of greens, fruits, and vegetables! Fruits and veggies contain so many nutrients that your body will use to fight off sicknesses. Slice up an apple or carrot and take it on the go with you. I find that preparing fruits and veggies ahead of time makes it easier for you to eat them more often. I like to slice up peppers, carrots, cucumbers, etc and put them in a large plastic bag so I can snack on them throughout the day without consuming any time! EXERCISE is the next way to keep your immune system strong. I know that it is hard to keep up a weekly or daily routine of exercising but it is a great way to stay healthy and strong during the cold/flu season. Take a nice long walk after work and enjoy the spring season! Just keep your body moving and it will return you the favor of staying nice and healthy! The last way to strengthen your immune system is to get plenty of REST. It can be very easy for many people to get so caught up in their job or extracurricular activities and they end up not getting enough sleep to be up and ready to go the next morning. Giving your body a nice 8 hours of sleep a night will give you enough energy to complete everything without straining and putting stress on your body. When your body is well rested, it has the strength to keep a good immune system to fight off all sicknesses!
It is so important that you take care of your body during the flu/cold season. Keep your body healthy and ready to face this time of the year!

The wonders of FLAXSEED

Hey there,
Today I am going to share with you a wonderful, healthy grain called flaxseed that has many health benefits to it. Flaxseed is derived from a seed of a flax plant and is available in powder, oil, or capsule form.  It contains three primary ingredients: Omega-3 essential fatty acids, lignans, and fiber. It has been known to prevent cancer, lower cholesterol, relieve pain, and is a great fiber source. Flax seed also increases clear, smooth skin and strengthens your hair and nails!
For further reading on the benefits of flaxseed, Wed MD has great information that explains in greater detail.

I started using flaxseed a couple months ago and I have noticed a great difference in my complexion, my hair and nails are stronger, and I feel great all around. You can consume flaxseed in a few ways but I recommend buying flaxseed as whole seeds and you can grind them in a food processor. It is so simple! Now it is recommended to have 2 TBSP of flaxseed a day, and  you can put it in almost anything. I like to make fruit smoothies for breakfast and I add my flaxseed in with it. Flaxseed has a nutty taste which I think is really good, and it tastes great in smoothies! You can basically add flaxseed in anything you like.. cookies, drinks, pancakes, yogurt, etc.
Try it out, it can't hurt! You will discover this great ingredient that has tons of health benefits and it is such an easy way to improve your health!
